Who am I?
I am the main character and author of my life … as well as many poems, stories and journals I’ve filled over the years but have rarely shared until now.
Why blog?
At the end of 2012, I decided it was about time I let myself focus on my writing. I’ve been working on a story and completed my first draft. I’m working on the next phase — editing, revising, improving. I’ve been here before with other stories — hopefully I can make it over the hump with this one. (Update: As of Jan. 2014, I’m still working on this story! Several drafts later and I’m hoping after this round of revisions it will be ready to share with Betas.)
What do I love?
To dance, to sing (even though I have an *awful* voice!), to play, laugh, learn, to have balance, to consume information (mostly online), to write, read and I love cats!
Where I’m from
I grew up in New York, okay, Long Island, but not where you might think of when you hear Long Island. Smack in the middle of Suffolk County. I’m still on the East Coast, not far from NY and love being close enough for day trips to the city.

I think you lie about this awful voice thing, but if it’s even half as bad as mine, we should do a duet!

Oh trust me, it’s no lie. When you’re spouse says “What is that sound?” when you’re singing to yourself, you know it’s bad! 🙂

I’ve got an awful off key and known to break or flatten at whim voice.Maybe we can form an awful singing group someday? 😉

Well, it’s nice to know I’m not the only one out there with a bad voice, but a singing group? I wouldn’t dare subject that kind of torture on anyone! 🙂

I just came across this! And loved the way you displayed the entire tragic story of Mr Wicks and the tragic incident.
I always considered it a tragic event from beginning to end. Our school had so many teacher and student fights and this was a tragic end to one of them.
I too was there in that cafeteria with you on that day. And this brought back so many memories. Do you remember how as we were waiting to get out of that cafeteria, that another student and teacher fight broke out? It was a student with our gym teacher. I remember watching this and thinking “ this is actually why we are going through this situation now” and yet here we are witnessing another fight!
I came across your blog because just last week someone asked me questions about the East junior high school tragic incident.I remember it like yesterday. I decided to look up the newspaper articles on it and somehow came across your blog.
Thank you for writing this.

Haven’t been blogging for so long I’m not used to getting comments any more.
I don’t remember that fight but do remember how intense it was in the cafeteria – arguing, crying & some laughing and joking but very tense! I don’t recognize your last name – did we know each other? Or were we part of that large crowd of students corralled together until it was safe to be sent outside? Glad we made it!!

My last name back then was Colon. I regretfully kept to myself a lot. I was a bit of an oddball
