Not me!
Last week I received my 100th official blog follower! I know my page says I have more but that includes my small number of Twitter followers. Actual subscribers as of today? 105. How awesome is that? 105 people actually want to read what I write.
Almost a year ago, I launched this blog with so much fear and worry. I was kind of hoping no one would read it, then I wouldn’t have to face that vulnerable feeling. But the coolest thing happened … people read it and commented and were so supportive. I’ve made some amazing blog friends and found this awesome community so I thought I would take a moment to say:
ย
Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award
I also want to give a big Thank You to InionNMathair for nominating me for this award and for writing such a sweet nomination!
the rules are …
1. You have to thank the person who nominated you. (After all, you wouldnโt have this without your amazing sister.)
Uh-huh! Thank you again Inion N. Mathair!!!
2. You have to post 7 things about yourself that nobody knows. (Much like confiding in a sister.)
7 things that NOBODY knows? That’s probably impossible, but at least I’ll give you 7 things that most of you don’t know. (and I hope I don’t bore you).
i. I love sports — especially Football!!! How fitting since the NFL season just kicked off … woo hoo!! That’s almost as good as getting 100 followers and a blogging award! ๐
ii. I can be quite oppositional, like the fact that I live in Connecticut but root for Tennessee women’s basketball. That’s practically a sin here in CT.
iii. I know 3 languages – English, Spanish and Sign Language.
iv. I do not cook! We eat take out or go out for dinner everyday. Don’t judge ๐
v. I feel guilty when I kill bugs and try to catch and release instead of kill. When I mow the lawn I try to avoid running over anything that’s alive – worms, crickets, moths, frogs, snakes, etc. It’s why mowing the lawn can take me a LONG time!
vi. Day tripping to New York City is one of my favorite things to do!
vii. I only watch scary movies during the day time and I can not listen to ghost stories if I’m anywhere near a window. It freaks me out!!!
3. You have to nominate 7 others and let them know theyโve been nominated. (Pay it forward, sister.)
These sisters are awesome and I wouldn’t be surprised if they’ve all already received this award. They deserve it! Their writing is incredible, their blogs are inspiring and they have been super supportive of my blog so I want to acknowledge them — You women rule!! ๐ย
i. Carrie Rubin at The Write Transition
ii. JM McDowell at her self-titled blog
iii. Charrissa Stastny at Joy in the Moments
iv. Kourtney Heintz at Kourtney Heintz’s Journal
v. Denise Hisey at Inspired2Ignite
vi. Gina Barlean at G.M Barlean
vii. Sheri de Grom at her self-titled blogย
Don’t worry ladies, I won’t hold you to the ‘rules’ – especially if you’ve already received this award.
4. You have to include the award logo on your site.
With pride! ย ๐
Hope everyone had a Happy Football Sunday and thanks again for taking the time to read Writing Pieces of Me, I really appreciate it!!!
Thanks so much for the shout-out. What a nice surprise! It’s fun to learn these things about you. My husband wishes so much that I liked football, but I don’t. He says it’s my worst fault. I can live with that… (Even though I know it’s far from true!)
Thanks again for thinking of me. Have a great rest of your evening!

You’re welcome and you proved me right … always the first to comment. Thanks so much Carrie, it means a lot. I know you just took down your awards page, but still wanted to say thanks!
And if your husband wants to take football, I’m game. I’m a Jets fan, but don’t let him think any less of me because of it, I can talk football with the best of them! ๐

I don’t dare tell him, because then he’d learn there are women who actually like football, and he’d never let me hear the end of it…

Ha ha. Then I won’t tell him either ๐

Hi Kourtney, you are VERY welcome! I was wondering if you were going to rib me about being a Tenn women’s fan and not UCONN. ๐
Yeah, there is just so much to do in the city. We can always find something new to do when we go.
Thanks again for the support!!

LOL. I am not a sports girl. I went to Georgetown for 4 years during the Iverson years and never caught a game. ๐ Feel free to love any team you like.
Yup. I just was there arranging a book party location for October. So excited to be able to get together with all my city friends to celebrate. ๐

Thanks Arlene! What fun to learn more about you. I sometimes wish I could eat out everyday…but I’m too scared to catch and release. My foot is a stomping foot (only with closed toe shoes on though–just in case I miss I don’t want the critter to crawl into my toes). I can’t believe you even see things not to run over with the lawn mower–you must have eagle eyes.

Hi Char, you’re welcome and thanks for all of your support! I’m glad you enjoyed the few tidbits about me.
In the spirit of full disclosure, I don’t actually do the catching and releasing … I do more of the identifying, “there’s a bug on the kitchen floor, can you come get it?” and I watch from a very safe distance ๐ Ha ha.
Thanks again!

What a fun award – congrats, you deserve it. I’m with you about saving any living creature from human (or domestic animal) harm. I release any creature I can if I find it in my house. My husband summons me anytime he finds a frog or a snake when he’s mowing the lawn. He’s terrified of wild animals, so I have to rescue them for him. Like the mouse in the bed. That was a fun one. ๐

Mouse in the bed?? Yikes!! I hope we never have that experience!!!! Would love to hear about it though ๐

Congrats, Arlene! We were so excited to see what your answers would be. I’m the same way about bugs. I once spent two hours trying to catch a wasp that had gotten trapped inside mine and Mathair’s writing room. Well, really I was saving because I had to fend off Mathair’s constant swiping with the newspapers. LOL And, I used to be the same way about cooking. Mathair said I was domestically challenged. As for the oppositional one, that’s definitely Mathair. Matter of fact, she waits to find out who everyone else in the house is rooting for and then picks the opposite. LOL. Great getting to know you better and love your choices for nominees.

Yay – you deserve tons of awards and followers! It’s always fun to visit. I’m trying to learn to love football – mostly I love all the food that goes along with it. Now I’m suddenly really looking forward to it again (or maybe it’s just the chili and nachos and all that)!
